Empower has entered into an agreement with DMCC to provide sustainable district cooling services for the upcoming phase of Uptown Dubai

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), recognized as the global leader in district cooling services, has entered into a partnership with DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) to supply sustainable district cooling for the next phase of Uptown Dubai. This agreement covers a capacity of 24,675 refrigeration tons (RT) and aligns with Dubai’s broader environmental goals.

The signing ceremony took place at DMCC’s headquarters in Uptown Tower, attended by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, and H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

Uptown Dubai is envisioned as a premier smart district, featuring eight mixed-use towers and offering a blend of retail, dining, luxury hospitality, and sustainable community experiences. Following the successful opening of Uptown Tower, the upcoming phase consists of two grade A commercial towers strategically positioned at the southern edge of Dubai, granting easy access to key areas and landmarks.

Empower’s JLT District Cooling initiative includes four cooling plants, with three currently operational, designed to deliver a total capacity of 152,000 RT. Supported by an extensive pipeline network, these facilities are equipped with advanced smart systems ensuring efficient and environmentally responsible operations.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting their commitment to providing innovative solutions that reduce carbon emissions and support the UAE’s national sustainability objectives. He stated that Empower already serves the first phase, including Uptown Tower, with 3,850 RT in cooling capacity while adhering to international benchmarks.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem highlighted the progress in Uptown Dubai, referencing the commencement of Phase 2 with the construction of two premium office towers. Additional residential projects and the imminent opening of the Atrium, Plaza, and dynamic food and beverage offerings are swiftly transforming Uptown Dubai into a top-tier global destination. The partnership with Empower is integral to ensuring the efficient delivery of sustainable cooling solutions, enhancing the area for residents and visitors alike.
